Keeping track on the longest range electric vehicles is a tough job since the automotive industry is changing very fast and manufacturers continue updating the existing models. Yet, the various specialist sources NewsCafe has reviewed agree that Air, an EV made by the Silicon Valley-based Lucid Motors, travels farthest than any other electric cars with a single full charge.
According to official technical specifications, the Lucid Air G Touring XR AWD model covers a distance up to 516 miles or more than 830 kilometers. The company boasts it could do even better - 520 miles.
Other Air models perform worse, but still above the average mileage, which today commonly stands at 300+ miles.
Mercedes Benz EQS is number 2.
In 2021, for comparison, the average range of an EV was 217 miles (349 kilometers); an average gas car’s range then stood at 413 miles (665 kilometers).
The Lucid Air dominated the top longest range EV for the entire year 2023.
NewsCafe made a list of longest range EVs for 2023, ranked by their EPA combined driving range, revealing the minimums and maximums from various sources depending on their trim.
So, here’s a top 20:
Mind please that Lucid Air is still number one and we’ve made this top to include Rivian, an American startup. Rivian recently promised to release a battery that lasts up to 400 miles, but it has not been EPA rated yet.
Fisker Ocean is number 3.
During its dominance in the EV market in the past years, Tesla used to be unrivalled in the mileage in the electric car sector. The old European carmakers, who are relatively new in this sector, are rapidly catching up thanks to their experience and tough green policies in the European Union.
Note that there are many other long range EVs that have gone unnoticed or unverified for various reasons, for example Chinese or South Korean models, which may need additional independent tests to assess their capability.
