According to the French economy outlet Challenges.fr, the court ruling came into force in December 2023 but wasn’t made public immediately.

The villa is currently empty. It was searched as part of an investigation led by the Paris prosecutor's office following a complaint from the anti-corruption organization Transparency International.

The historical villa, called "Suzanna," is located in the city of Anglet in the southwest of France, and was built in 1930.

It is registered on the name of Kirill Shamalov, a former husband of the Putins’ elder daughter Katerina Tikhonova.

Lyudmila Putina has remarried and is now formally the wife of Artur Ocheretnyi, a fitness instructor. She is now one of the richest women in Russia and has been under Western sanctions for Kremlin-linked corruption.
