After repeated postponements of shows slated to last initially till February 2024, the American rock-and-metal band Aerosmith announced last week they were cancelling all the concerts and officially retired from touring over the impossible recovery of their leader Steven Tyler from a vocal injury.
“It has been the honor of our lives to have our music become part of yours. In every club, on every massive tour and at moments grand and private you have given us a place in the soundtrack of your lives.,” one of the longest active bands in the world said in a statement.

“We’ve always wanted to blow your mind when performing. As you know, Steven’s voice is an instrument like no other. He has spent months tirelessly working on getting his voice to where it was before his injury.
We’ve seen him struggling despite having the best medical team by his side. Sadly, it is clear, that a full recovery from his vocal injury is not possible. We have made a heartbreaking and difficult, but necessary, decision – as a band of brothers – to retire from the touring stage,” Aerosmith noted, thanking their fans for support and understanding.
The group’s 33rd, final show called “Peace out: Farewell tour” took place on 9 September 2023 when Tyler suffered the vocal injury on the scene and since then the group had postponed the tour continuation for month, until decided in late July 2024 that it was indeed the final outing and it’s time to say goodbye. All remaining concerts have been cancelled and ticket holders are being reimbursed.

Aerosmith have rocked-and-rolled for more than five decades. Their last album, “Music From Another Dimension!,” came out in 2012 while Tyler also released a lone solo album in 2016.
The band was formed in 1970, in Boston, Massachusetts. It includes Steven Tyler, Tom Hamilton, Brad Whitford, Joe Perry and Joey Kramer. Ray Tabano, Jimmy Crespo, and Rick Dufay were past members.
They’ve played hard rock, blues rock, and heavy metal, judging talent hunting shows, recording soundtracks for the movie industry, and doing a lot of philanthropy.
